I was way down south last weekend and went here while visiting a friend. It had a cool feel and you definitely tell this is a heavy drinking locals suds bar. Probably a great place in the season to sit outside and have a cold one. Even on the day we went with blistering summer heat there was a good number of people outside. I ordered some gator bites, which were pretty good. I got them blackened and it was good and spicy. The gator was not too chewy which is great and hard to find. But the good times kind of ended there. I got the pulled pork sandwich. I had asked the waitress if it was good, and she said they were yummy. I got what appeared to be two slider sized sandwiches with a pickle and olive squered with a tooth pick. Who puts olives on pulled pork? I jettisoned the olive and pickle and took a bite. Something was odd. I took another bite. I could swear there was something in there that tasted like freezer burn! I don't know if it was the bun or the meat but there is no way this was fresh. It was also way too sugary for my taste, so I'm guessing this was one of those prepared pulled pork all in ones you get out of the freezer and not someones lovingly smoked pig. The misses had the blackened fish sandwich. I think they used up all the blacken seasoning on our gator bites because about all they did for her sandwich was wave the seasoning jar in the general direction of the fish. ON the plus side the fish was not over cooked. Our friend had the shrimp and pasta. She didn't say what it was like but it seemed ok. This might have been ok. But it took over an hour to get our food and while there was a few people out on the deck we were practically the only ones inside! The waitress was nice and all the service good, but the food just wasn't up to par. The price was reasonable as well, but it had better be if their pig is coming out of the freezer.

Friendly service, Guinness and a cool deck area. The entertainment was stolen from the Ramada Inn though, an older couple with a keyboard doing bad karaoke renditions of pop music. The ladies room smelled nice as I learned after the owner laughingly pointed out that I had used the wrong one. No one seemed uptight so I would say it's a decent stop.

This bar looks incredibly cool from the street so we decided to stop in and try it. There's a medium sized outside deck area and we really wanted to sit there, but had to go inside to sit and wait to nab an outside table when someone left. Inside waitress had better things to do than deal with us, but the service and smiles improved greatly when we found a table outside. I ordered the Shrimp Jammerz, which were over-the-top delicious and my hubby got their famous wings. He's very picky about his wings, but he really enjoyed these. Great flavor. This seems to be a place where tons of locals like to hang out and listen to bands/dance....so the crowd was a bit older. So, if you're looking for that hole in the wall place to eat in Port Charlotte, you might want to give this a whirl, but don't be fooled---it's not near as cool as it looks from the street.

After reading some of the negative reviews about this place I decided to add my 2 cents. First off this place is a pub, so beer and drinks are where it's at, the food is secondary. I didn't order any food myself, but the wings did look tasty and the portions were extremely generous. I think the menu consisted mainly of pub food like fries, wings, burgers etc... It has a great atmosphere and live music on the balcony on certain days. Definitely a nice place to have a few cold brews with some buds, the next time I'm up I'll definitely pay this place another couple visits.

The wings are out-of-this-world good. Especially the BBQ and Honey BBQ flavors. I am basing all 4 stars on that. We normally get takeout wings so I have only stayed to eat a few times. The ambiance of the place and the rest of the food is fine, nothing that stood out in memory, just a regular bar otherwise. I did try a great frozen alcoholic drink there once.

I've lived in Port Charlotte 4 years. This is the first time I have visited Gatorz. This place is always packed and now I know why. The atmosphere is great. It is very laid back. There is live music on a Tuesday. Tuesday is also 40 cent wing night. We had a pitcher of Stella, potato skins, wings and, our waitress, Caitlyn, recommended the shrimp tacos. We came rather late, so it wasn't too busy, but still very busy for 8:45 on a Tuesday. The food came out hot, and under 20 minutes. It was delicious and her recommendation was spot on. We were very pleased with the food and the service. We will definitely be back soon!

We thought we would try this out as we were shopping in the area. We will not go back. The service was poor and the food was not good. The waitress never came back to refill drinks or see if we needed anything else. I actually had to go find someone so we could get the bill as we wanted to leave. When I walked up to the hostess desk to find someone, she was texting on her cell......not professional. There were little bugs buzzing around the plate as I was trying to eat which just finished it for me. The food was extremely salty. Just not our kind of place at all.

After reading the negative reviews on here I decided to ignore them and give Gatorz a shot. Came down to Port Charlotte on vacation and heard Gatorz was the place to go when it came to wings. Marissa was our server and she was amazing, fast drinks and kept up on us the entire visit. The wings are awesome naked with crispy skins and even though hot wasn't as hot as some would like, I loved them. The side salads were great and the beer was cold. I didn't mind the plastic cup with it being a bar and all, I am sure if I asked for a glass they would have given me one. I would be back in a heartbeat, I also heard they are under new ownership.

Horrible service with attitude, the wings are bland nothing special. We had ordered wings to go yesterday and I had accidentally hung up, I called back she hung up, I call again and I could hear the other waitresses behind her and it sounded like she hung up on purpose and sounded really snide. When my husband went in to get the order a different girl gave him an attitude and sent him off. The wings were not very good the "hot" wings weren't hot at all. The flavors are very bland for the garlic and teriyaki wings. They were way better before like 3 years ago.

We also have driven by before and decide to stop in and use our "Entertainment Book" coupon for $8.00 off. Long story short: the food and service was good but the new owner would not honor the coupon. We knew this before ordering but ordered anyway. This is his right but it seems penny wise and pound foolish. We had two sandwiches, three beers, an order of fries and an order of coleslaw. $32.00 total that he wouldn't have had if we had not stopped in. He would still have netted $24.00 with the coupon. On top of that, the former owner had already paid to be in the book so this new guy didn't pay a cent for free advertising. We might have gone back for a second visit but not now.

This bar is located near my sister's casa, so driving by one day I decided to pop in. The bar reminded me of a bar I used to work at....and hated. But I stuck around to see if the atmosphere was any different. It wasn't really busy, I would say steady more than anything, at the bar anyways. The food could have been good, if (and it's only my opinion) my fish sandwhich didn't feel like they got it out of a freezer and deep fried it. So watery and greasy. I couldn't get past the first couple of bites, so I stopped eating and ordered a drink. Which is about all I think this place is good for, other than the lack of good service. I felt like I was missing the one thing that would get the attention of my server, a male unit. haha Maybe I need to come here one more time on my next visit to florida. But I don't think I want to give it another chance.

Thought this place looked cool! Stopped in for lunch before a 1:00 appointment. Bikes, busy, bustling, local. Just what we like. Sat down @12:10, ordered @12:20, served just after 1:00! We ordered beef sliders (YUK), small order of wings (marginal), and greasy, greasy, (did I mention greasy?) chips. Our waitress never asked us for refills, or another beer, if our food was good, or if we needed anything else. I know it was lunchtime, I know it was busy, but 40 minutes for two not so hot mini-burgers and wings? Really? Maybe a bad day for the waitress, but the food was marginal, too. Never again...

Yep, As good as it get's. With me, GaTorZ started 10 years ago when the chickenwings/drumzz were 10c a piece on Tue/Wednesday nights(25c these days and still verry yummie). We orderd at least twenty, to go home later with a belly ache. That's not because the food wasn't good. After a while we got smarter (yep, it's possible) and we ordered only 17. My fav. Breaded/Teriyaki. The rest of the menu is ok. Thursday is ladies night and at times there's life music. Indeed, all walks of life but hey.....that's what also makes it special. Besides....who doesn't love Harley's. The Lobster crane....what can i say, mixed feelings....but that's because i never caught one. Lol. Anyway. Place is moslty busi. I've seen a few nice tattoos on the girls that wait on you. No..it's definately not a GUY's only Bar&Grill. Is BB52 (licence plate) is still visiting GaTorz?

Whenever I'm in the area I always make a stop at this bar. I've never waited long or had a bad meal. Most recently I went there for lunch on a 25c wing day. It was insanely busy and only one waitress working the inside. I have to say she did an incredible job, it was pretty impressive. My only complaint is on the busier day the wings were not as crispy as usual. If you go on a day they're serving 25c wings and the entire place is full then it would be safe to assume that there will be a wait. So, if you're impatient it's best you go another night. I think all the people with bad things to say about the place have never been to a busy restaurant. Get over it. The place is good and I've ALWAYS had a pleasant waitress. And for the people that think their servers are rude chances are they were just really busy and not being rude.

This is no pansy beer and wing joint its the real deal! Atmosphere is a cross between a real biker bar and Florida Cracker Billy Bobs Music Palace. Proof of its success is its usually packed. This is no yuppie hangout where the patrons talk about stock tips and there last round of golf. This is the place where the hard working blue collared Americans goes after a hard day on the job or the guy just off the boat from fishing comes. The wings are large (very large) and served in a variety of different ways. Breaded or naked they make others look like the saddest happy meal reject. I think Bobby Bonds and Sammy Sosa wonder what type of steroids Gatorz use. If you make it to Port Charlotte Gatorz is a must. Bring your own friends or find some there. The place is fun, live music is great and the porch outside is entertaining.

Ummm, Awesome! Experience was great, live music, great service and read reviews of the " best paddy melt ever". My dad had it and definitely agreed it was awesome. While reading the menu of fantastic food I couldn't decide. I came across a Fish Ruben. Ummm not sure about that... Asked the waitress about it and she stated no one has ever complained. We have passed Gatorz several times saying we need to drop in the next time. Well, this was the next time. We were in the mood for a dive bar, tiki style, and from the road, Gatorz appeared to fit the bill. We were not disappointed. The parking lot was full of Harleys sporting flags of Norway. Our Mazda 6 looked perfectly out of place as we carefully pulled into one of the few available parking spaces! The live music at the outdoor bar was a bit too loud for our taste so we grabbed a table inside. Our waitress, Tamara, was very pleasant, quickly bringing our drinks and filling us in on the menu. Great prices as well... $2.60 for a 16-ounce draft beer and $3.35 bloody marys. We chose a Patty Melt and Gator Bites (grilled option) and a couple of side salads. At first we thought the salads were overpriced, but when Tamara delivered them we could see why the $4 price tag. Huge plates with plenty of olives, cheese and so much more! The Patty Melt was definitely one of the best we have had. Ooey-Gooey and the bread was grilled to perfection - just enough crunch and not burnt. The Gator Bites were plentiful and the sauce had a little kick to it. Very good, but not great. About 80% of the bites were of the proper tenderness. A couple of them were chewy and had to be cut into very small pieces. Definitely on our comeback list.
